During the past fourteen years, Ms. Thigpen-Allen has handled event planning and execution of regional fundraising events in major cities nationwide for the Washington, DC-based Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), in partnership with Mary V. Jones of MVJ Consulting. Developing local committees, venue identification, researching and selecting honorees, soliciting sponsors, A/V presentations, invitation and journal creation, event marketing, script writing, program production, emcee/entertainment selection, media relations are the major tasks handled for each event. For their outstanding efforts on behalf of TMCF, they received The Founder’s Award in 2007 and to date have raised over $4 million for TMCF.
Ms. Thigpen-Allen joined Allen and Partners, Inc. in 2000, after several years of part-time assistance. Her major career was a formal appointment as a United States Probation Officer, investigating and composing presentence reports for Federal judges, and counseling convicted felons. Awards were garnered from the U.S. Secret Service, DEA, the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the U.S. Marshall Service and the FBI for her fine work in the field of criminal justice.
With unparalleled writing and editing skills, Ms. Thigpen-Allen composes business proposals/grants, brochures, press kits, program journals, event scripts, resource guides and annual reports. Her creativity is evident in her concept development, layout designs, program composition, conference programming and determining conference and event speakers, or talent from diverse disciplines, with a history in medical and social policy conferences. In addition, her past “corporate wife” duties give her a unique perspective. She coordinated the wake and funeral of U.S. Congressman Donald M. Payne, Sr.
John Jay College of Criminal Justice of the City University of New York awarded Ms. Thigpen-Allen a Master of Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Fairleigh Dickinson University is her undergraduate alma mater.
